viewing the flawless execution and authenticity of the work.
Watanabe's "Lyric Song" was an excellent finale. It began
in a soft setting, as dancers in shades of red and brown
moved effortlessly through the jazz/ballet. The soft mood
had a latent power until midway through the piece, when the
dancers burst into the contemporary sound of Earth, Wind
ana f ire.
Watanabe himself executed several difficult leaps, contortions
and extentions in his powerful style. He was Earle's
partner in a smooth movement and joined Roldan and Rosie
Dangerfield, who complemented Watanabe well, in a jazz
movement. The piece ended on an exciting note and was
received by an appreciative audience.
The key to the success of "Visions of Dance" was its
choreographers' diversity. The production was ideally
