USC volleyball tea By Mary Birk USC's women's volleyball team could prove they are on the edge of a possible . 500 season at the USC Volleyball Classic at Blatt Physical Education Center today. The tournament includes 12 other schools besides USC, sponsor for the event. The nine division I teams playing are East Carolina, Western Carolina, Clemson, North Carolina State, Georgia, UNC-Charlotte, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech and USC. Also on the court this weekend will be four Division II teams ? College of Charleston, Francis Marion, Winthrop and Jacksonville. USC's team is 4-8 on the season. Five of the eight games were lost in overtime. Coach Terrie Drake inherited a 9-22 record when she came to USC two weeks into the season last year. She pulled that up to a 17-28 record for the 1981 season, and this year she said she expects the team to do even better. "We're a much more experienced team this year. There are four sophomores who were starting last year when they were freshmen. We've also got some seniors on the team this year ? there weren't any last year.
