From Staff Reports
The USC soccer team won its second
game in a row Saturday by beating
Jacksonville University 1-0, improving the
Gamecocks' record to 2-1-1.
USC's Chris Heidelberger scored the only
goal of the game with about 20 minutes left
in the second half on an assist from David
Burr. It was Heidelberger's second goal of
the season.
The game was the first shutout of the
season for the Gamecocks. Sophomore Glen
Thomnson was credited with the shutout
but was heavily aided by the whole USC
team as they outshot their opponents 29-5.
"Despite the score, I was very pleased
with our play," USC coach Mark Berson
said. "We are starting to regain our form,
and not a minute too soon with Alabama A &
M next week."
The next USC soccer match wi'l be away
at Alabama A & M Sunday at 2 p.m.
