The Statler Brothers have survived a long time, recording hits on both country and pop charts. They still draw the fans, and always seem to keep them satisfied. "The Legend Goes On..." is not the best Statler Brothers' album, but should continue a tradition of satisfaction. All of the selections in the concert boasted their own individual merits, but without a doubt the highlight of the evening was a duet by Gray and Christie from Mozart's "Don Giovanni," accompanied by Fugo. THIS WELL-KNOWN scene, entitled "La ci darem la mano," has the opera's Casanova hero trying to seduce an innocent peasant girl. The listener didn't need to be fluent in Italian to know what was going on in the hero's mind ? Gray's intonations and expressions took care of that. "La ci darem la mano" is one of the prettiest scenes to be found in opera, and it would not be an overstatement to say Christie and Gray would have made Mozart quite proud with their delightful performance.
