"We still feel that if we get a good winning streak going then they will have to consider us^but firs$ they have to look at the conferences at the first and second teams there." "Clemson lost in the tournament, but they've got 13 games left, so if they keep winning, they still have a shot at a bid," he said. One thing that has improved on the USC team is the hitting by freshmen. "Our freshmen are playing really well for us," Raines said after USC beat Fur man Saturday night. "Kevin Burke is swinging a good bat, and I'm pleased with our other players hitting the ball. "Larrv Hernandez (iunior outfielder) has been swinging real well lately, but we've got to get Chris boyle (sophomore catcher) back in the hitting swing. Raines said his team is going to have to keep on winning to keep their playoff hopes alive. USC has six more games (including Sunday's Georgia Southern contest) against Southern, Georgia State and archrival Clemson. The final playoff bids go out May 24.
