The Gamecocks, ranked 14th in the nation, shut out both opponents 9-0. Carolina has not lost an individual match since Feb. 17 against the College of Charleston. Since then, the Gamecocks have shut out four consecutive opponents. Sophomore Zoran Petkovic playing the No. 1 position fell behind 3-2 in the first set to Jamie Miller in a controversial match. According to Petkovic, Miller made some questionable calls forcing Petkovic to request a line judge. In Carolina's recent matches, Smarr has been rotating all | of his healthy players so that the eighth, ninth and 10th players can gain more playing experience to help the team late in the season when they go up against some of the top tennis powers like UCLA, Southern California and the University of Georgia in March and April. Junior Trevor Raal injured his back after last Friday's match against Francis Marion forcing him to miss the last two matches. Raal is questionable for today's match. 1 In the Citadel match scheduled today, Smarr plans to use as many players as he can since he expects the Citadel to be an pasipr onnonent than either Appalachaian State or East Tennessee State. The Citadel is fifth in the Southern Conference; Appalachian State and East Tennessee State are second and third. JHJhBI .4 ^t-M. ^ scored 14 points in Monday night's game at
