If you didn't see it when it ran briefly in Columbia last fall, consider your money wellsaved and continue that trend. Porky's is just not worth it. The film was testmarketed last fall by Twentieth Century-Fox and \< our capital city was one of the areas selected. In a conversation with a Fox marketing strategist, I was disappointed ? but not surprised ? to learn that the film did very well here. Porky's tends to attract the college crowd, which is led to believe that the movie lb as iuuiiy anu enjuyauie as, say, Animal House. Nobody except the most smug film critics insist that every film have profound social impact or message, and audiences will enjoy a movie that boasts not hi no but fun. I liked Bluto and Otter and company from Animal House, and their colleagues didn't. Everybody in Angel Beach High likes the Porky's crew, but these guys are irritatintflu nhnnvinnc especially little Dan Monahan as our "hero," Pee Wee. Ormond Beach ? < RHUU BY JOHN VAUGHAN f nterUinment Editor In an pffnrt tr? in^rpa^p recognition and student support, the Russell House University Union is sponsoring a contest to change its name. This doesn't mean the words "Russell House" will be taken off the front of the building on Green Street? but it is exactly this sort of confusion that has spurred the name change. The Russell House University Union is a student activities organization comprised of nine committees; the organization is merely housed in its namesake building. According to KHUU President Christine Ford, many USC students don't recognize the difference between the organization and the building, and the KHUU believes this is something worth changing. "The name change has been discussed in the past ) many times," Ford said. "But at the last executive committee meeting, it was decided to do something about it this semester."
