I was in the process of cleaning up my desk and I crumpled up some paper and tried an eightfoot jumper towards the garbage can. It caromed off. Another miss. 11 -\ r i 1 J i A r? " * ...... i uu snuuiu n y oui ior me DasKetoall team," he joked, and we both chuckled. He was just another poking fun at the team. Why are so many people around here such fair-weather fans? Are they embarassed to show spirit when the fortunes of their team are down? Doesn't anybody have the guts to keep plugging for these guys and girls that are giving their all even when things aren't perfect? It's a breeze to sit back there in your recliner with your m beer and complain that the men's team is 6-11 and thp women's is 10-4, losing four out of their last five. The men's team has no seniors, five juniors, four sophomores and five freshmen. That is a young team. With youth comes problems of inexperience and a period of learning and that is why we are 6-11 right now. Next year, though, watch out. Next year is when the USC basketball program finishes it's rebuilding and is restored to its former place of national power. You're going to have an off vpar in thp hniiHinc* r?f o dynasty. I don't mean to sound like a cheerleader, but how about f getting behind the teams a little bit. The coliseum holds close to 13,000. Last year, USC averaged 6,787 for each of 16 home games. Ten years ago, attendance averaged 12,524, just short of capacity. This year, it looks like we won't even reach last year's average.
