However, after reading your editorial in the November 23rd issue ("Lost Season") concerning Jim Carlen, I felt compelled to respond. Never before has one .of the "anti-USC" editorials, so popular in the media around here, angered me so. You, the editor, have definitely overstepped your boundaries, if you feel you have any, that is, by suggesting that the head coach resign. The editorial was a product of "negative thinking", a term which Jim Carlen coined. I came from a town very close to Clemson and I was glad to get away from the obnoxious Clemson atmosphere. Because I am familiar with Clemson's football program, it leads me to believe that the problem with USC's program does not lie with the head coach, but with the general attitude of the fans, students, and alumni. USC has never been satisfied with anything it has ever had.
