Some people are making more u s man I s, and it will finally get to the point where we'll send them home for a while." According to Bolin, the enrollment cutback affected all incoming students, including transfers and out-of-state students. However, certain schools were affected more than others. "We've cut back all over, but there are some areas that we have to pay particular attention to, where the real job markets are. We need to enroll more nurses, for instance, because there's a critical shortage in the state. In engineering, science and mathematics, computer science and similar areas, we don't want to cut way back. "In other areas you can cut back a little more," Bolin said. Projected university expansions such as new buildings will not be affected by the cutback, acording to Bolin. "We're expanding into areas of high demand over the next fpw vpars " hp nntpH The overall quality of applicants should improve because of the higher quality of the student body here, Bolinsaid. 44A lot of people have been going to schools out of state that were awfully expensive and have gotten to the point where they simply can't afford to go," Bolin said. 44Between the university's looking better, being less exDensive and being better than its competition, a lot of students are coming back to school (at USC) or staying in state to start with. "That should increase the quality of the class even more so," he said. Whether the enrollment will ever return to last year's level depends on the mood of the campus, on the finances and on the market of students, Bolin said. mi mini n 11^ raight from idying to ing the world. leoneyou should meet on campus. io just might offer you a job.
