August 25,1981 Some Helpful Tips For Freshmen A freshman arriving at Carolina this fall definately needs two things--a good pair of flat walking shoes and a wardrobe of butttondown shirts or blouses. With those two items, he or she can not only be fahsionable, but comfortable while learning their way around Carolina. Of course, there are a number of other items new Carolina students can bring to ease the transition from high school to university life. For those moving into Carolina dormitories, Cynthia Forrest of Residential Life Services, advise /'bring anything that makes the room feel like home." Curtains, rugs, posters, stereos, televsions, a reading lamp, pots and pans to use in the dorm kitchen and a radio are staples of dorm existance. To enjoy things even more, Ms. Forrest suggests new students look for ways to get involved and meet other people at the university. A dorm provides many potential friends, as do the many clubs and groups on campus.
