President Reagan's tax
cut plan is gaining
momentum in Congress, and
it now seems likely that the
plan stands a good chance of
being approved. A tax cut is
something all American's
could certainly use, but
there is a major flaw in
Reagan's program.
In order to cut down the
revenue that t.h* oAwopn.

through taxation, cuts in
spending will also have to be
made; and the President is
asking for cuts in all the
wrong places. Even worse,
he is asking for increase in
all the wrong places too.

TO THE EDITOR
In recent weeks we have all heard of the
executions of more than 250 people accused
of being "traitors" to Iran's "revolution".
The first question which comes to mind is
that if the Islamic Republic (IRP) is a
government supported by the people, why
then has there been so much unrest and
executions since it came to power? Why has
the regime employed such tactics as
hostage taking and the Iran-Iraq war to
rally the people around its government in
order to divert their minds from internal

solve, what then is the truth?
The truth is that during 77-78 when the
imperialists saw the vast mass movement
in Iran, and wanting to control these
movements, made compromises with
Khomeini in France, and in order to protect
their interests replaced the Shah's regime
with Khomeini's clique, namely the Islamic
Republic Party. At that point the people of
Iran were unaware of Khomeini's true intentions,
which is protecting the interests of

movies for rednecks.
LOOK AROUND Mr. Baker, the South and
the whole country are full of rednecks, like
me, and the people in the movie industry are
aware of it. They are in this business to
make money, not for their, or solely your,
pleasure. There are plenty of other
"sophisticated" movies for you and others
like you. Some people enjoy these redneck
movies. I hope this doesn't surprise you, it i
certainly doesn't surprise me or the
producers.
