Kim FORMER USC forward Alex English has struck gold with the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association. The Nuggets announced July 7 that free-agent English signed a high-paying multi-year contract with uenver, turning down a $3.1 million offer from the Seattle Supersonics. English, who posted a 23.8 average for the Nuggets last season, is entering his sixth year in the NBA after four sensational seasons at Carolina. The amount of the contract was not disclosed, but English had threatened earlier to accept the lofty Seattle offer if Denver did not match of top it. English played for Milwaukee and Indiana before moving to the Nuggets. In his 24 games with Denver in the 1979-80 season, he averaged 21.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. He has never failed to reach double figures scoring in a game since he joined the team. ij| j I 1 OFF ! ole Sub! S OFF i if Sub! !
