EXPC to rea By David Wooten Staff Writer Fun, entertainment, music and prizes for free? EXPO America brings Columbia all this and more February 2527? at the Holiday Inn on Assembly St. from 3-12 p.m. EXPO, a Chicago-based company affiliated with the American Marketing Association, is in the final stages, of a nationwide carnival tour. AMA is responsible for scheduling companies like Wrangler jeans Inc. and Carmel Cigarettes to appear in EXPO. Each individual company sponsors a different carnival-type booth to promote their own products. I All the activities and events will be free of charge. I THE THEME behind EXPO is to create an overall positive awareness for the company's products, now and in the long run. Peter Camanella, marketing director of the present national tour, says that EXPO'S primary goal is to areach the "elusive" college consumer. "Based on years of intensive research, large companies have found that college students listen to and watch what they want to hear and see," Campanella said. "We have found that UAfU is an ideal way to catch and keep their interest." Carnival booths, specialized events, and nightly concerts will highlight the festive threeday extravaganza. A mechanical bull ride will offer the bucking enthusiast an opportunity to ride his way to prestige and prizes. A ladder climb will challenge students to reach the summit and grab an envelope that may sent them to Daytona Beach. COLUMBIA IS the last stop of the 20-city EXPO tour before the final Daytona show during spring break.
