Patterson adapted the play from the original ] version with Patterson ] directing the show. The new adaption was given yet another twist with a new musical score composed by Christopher Reynolds. As a result, the unique play emergaed as a modern but ancient Roman miisirnl 1 comedy. To begin the first act, a comical crew of five performers disguised as statues climbed down from their perches to give a brief synopsis of what the play is about and then made an energetic exit with the song "Welcome." "THE TWINS" plot is presented in contemoorarv I American English although the setting is typical of ancient Rome. The play revolves around a young man's search for his longlost twin brother. Through fate, the twins wind up ip the !same town. Mistaken identity leads to chaotic hilarity and insane slapstick humor. The Twins are performed by Stanley Rhann Ashly and Richard Rottschaefer who project different personalities ; one agressive and defensive while the other is meek yet playful. ainmen ute : Baker itta es, Scottie Templeton, the M by Jack Lemmon in Bob ontl.. * ' * " bnu; icienea 10 as Deing I ijective, however, would be " 11, never quiet and, as a result M i. As Peniculus, his ijiddy brother-in-law, whose main passion is satisfying his anormous appetite, and goes as far as giving his savory desires sexual connotations. As for the women in the play, Susan Reeves as the seductive Erotium and Fredrica Lawlor as the twin's whining wife could not have been funnier if performed by Broadway ac tresses. Susan Reeves played the sultry "lady" whom the twins "wined, dined, and combined with." Fredrica was hilarious as the badgering hag who looked like an obese version of Phyllis Diller. THROUGHOUT THE FLAY six songs added more comedic flavor to the plot with their looney yet suggestive lyrics. After the twins finally discover each other, they join together for a song and dance, which comes across as a soft shoe routine. For the grand finale, the entire cast chime in for the spectacle. Although 'he play was only 75 minutes long, mere was enough comedy to satisfy anyone looking for laughs. "The Twins" was definitely a comedy that should not have been missed by theater enthusiasts. It was a welcomed change for those looking for something to smile about. ... sent Lee Remick and Jack in this mnviM ac nhticinil1?t MU pujoi^aujr feseen.
