However, a discreet File 13 correspondent managed to stow away on Holdy's slow boat to China and has filed an in-depth report and itinerary of the USC President's trip. Here is his detailed account of the traveiogue: Sunday, Oct. 19 at 4:00 a.m., Holdy and an assemblage of six Board of Trustee members, eight campus cops (for minimal security), two Chinese professors, 12 Japanese professors, 24 oriental siuuenis ana ueorge Kogers met secretly at the Charleston Naval Base to prepare to board the tugboat. At 4:30 a.m. the USC president argued with the owners of the boat, a band of Cuban refugees, about how much he'd have to Dc<v them for tht? n?p r?f fhoJr vessel. At 7 a.m., the boat pulledoutof harbor, with the refugees remaining on land counting their $9,000. At 9 p.m. Sunday, the boat is totally lost with Holdy as the captain. He is wearing a sailor's cap and singing "China Grove" while the Japanese visitor's are committing Hari-Kari. The rest of the crew is either hanging out of the boat or swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. The crew now consists of the USC president, three Japanese professors, four oriental students and George. The rest have either ? i ? jumped overooard trying to swim back to land or hitchhiked a ride on a passing dolphin. There are three tremendous holes in the side of the tugboat which have been repaired with Scotch tape. On the rear of the boat read the words "Peking or Bust." The USC President disagrees and steers the beaten boat southward to South America. It's Thursday now and the only thing to report is that the boat is washed ashore on the Tropical Island of Gula _ Mula. China has sent word that they don't care what happens to the USC president. Assistant to the President Steve "Big Guy" Beckham is about to go insane, because he's in charge and everybody knows that he's not too bright. People are walking with more of a spring in their step and laughing more. Signs such as "Hitler is Gone, Long Live Beckham," and "Happy Days are here Again," draped the windows of dormitory rooms across campus. Meanwhile, the second report of Holderman's attempt at getting to China will appear next week.
