V T 11 1 11 < v ouey oaii team downs Clemson By Liz Chandler Staff Writer The Carolina women's volleyball team brought their overall record to 8-13 after losing three of five games this past week. Carolina defeated Clemson Tuesday in a five game match. Clemson won the first and the third games, while Carolina took the second and the fourth. The Lady Gamecocks ran away with the fifth game of the match, much of it due to senior setter Alexis Homer, according to head coach Judy Martino. "Alexis did a good job. She kept us in there with her enthusiasm. She'll be seeing a lot more playing time for the rest of the season," Martino said. THE GAMECOCKS traveled to Florida this weekend where they played four matches and won one. They started the tournament on Friday against Miami Dade South and lost 7-15 and 7-15. The second match against Flagler was Carolina's only win. They took the match in the first two games with scores of 15-3 and 15-1. The Gamecocks lost to the University of Central Florida 7-15 and 10-15, which finished up Friday's play and left one remaining match for Saturday. It was a disappointing loss." TENNESSEE WON the match in the first two games, Ills, 10-15, but the match was a lot closer than the scores show, according to Martino. "We're still erratic," Martino said. "The tournament had some very good teams, but we just didn't play well. I'm confident we can do it, and we show signs of playing exceptional ball.
