J On Nugent enj? ay liz v^nancjier Gamecock Staff Writer Although the weather was too hot to run a suitable marathon time, according to Bob Nugent, the experience of running the Boston Marathon is incredible. "The heat made the race a constant effort to find water. You ran from one water stop to the next. The people were great, it was like one big sea of people trying to hand you water," Nugent said. In the 75-80 degree weather, Nugent ran a marathon time of two hours and 47 minutes, which is not as fast as his qualifying time of "I'm not dissappointed with my time. The experience made up for the poor time, there's nothing like it. Two million people are there and they're all cheering for you, there is no opponent. They just kind of sweep you along," Nugent said. BILL ROGERS won the race which gave him four Boston titles, till U1 Wlli^U nave LUIUC III LIIC last three years. Nugent talked to Rogers before the race and described him as being totally at ease. "He wasn't jittery or anything. When I asked him what time he was shooting for he just said, 'I'm running to win.' Nobody really runs well in a hot weather 1 marathon," Nugent said.
