Golfers USC's improving golf team enhanced its chances of receiving a bid to the NCAA national tournament this past weekend with a fourth nlarp finich in tho ITurmnn Intercollegiate tournament at Greenville. Wake Forest won the three-day event with a score of 875. Six strokes behind the Deacons in second place was North Carolina, a team that USC is competing with for one of seven regional bids to the NCAAs. " ' ??* A Lady Gamecock see Softball By Liz Chandler Gamecock Staff Writer After opening the season with 10 consecutive victories, the USC women's softball team tasted defeat for the first time Saturday, as the fell to East Stroudsburg State, 5-1 in the first game of a doubleheader. We struggled with the pitching and we hit poorly," coach Judy Martino explained. It was a defensive battle until the sixth inning when Carolina made three i consecutive errors and allowed the visitors to score.
