Legislature is "ridiculous" because drug users will find a way to get around it, most USC students questioned said in a recent survey. The Senate has tentatively passed a bill that would outlaw the use, sale or possession of drug paraphernalia, excluding rolling papers. The bill is now under consideration in the House Judiciary Committee. "IF IT (the bill) passes, it will just be political," said Fred Snow, a bioloev iunior. "I think the stuff will still be sold unlawfully. As long as drugs are coming in, there's going to be paraphernalia used." Undeclared junior Marvin Smith said the proposed law is nonsense because there is nothing wrong with paraphernalia itself. "You can't get high off paraphernalia." "I'm against them (anti paraphernalia laws) for the fac! that the majority of people I knovs smoke dope," said Mary Eller Matthews, a junior business major. "It is un constitutional to tell someone wha they can and can't sell if you can' prove it's illegal." HOWEVER, Jim Corbett, < freshman journalism major, sai< he agreed with the law because it ii a good step toward helping sto] drug abuse. "Of course there wil be more homemade types, bu without mass production, it will b harder for the use of drugs to oc cur."
