Ron Mature, would set up a committee of three members, the committee and two non-senators. The commission would work with the USC parking committee to find a solution to inadequate parking facilities for commuting students. - A new parking facility is needed according to Mature because when the new Business Administration Building is completed, 82 faculty parking spaccs will be taken away, which will in turn be taken away from students. Sen. Matt Ward said the senate should delay passing the bill until it is made certain that a new parking facility is needed. WARD SAID the residential life committee is looking into an express system for the shuttlecock which would encourage commuting students to nark in the outlying areas of campus. There are many parking spaces available behind Bates West by the soccer field, but students don't park there because of the irregularity and slow service of the shuttlecocks, Ward said. The candidates for Student Government vice president were asked by Senate President Michael Warshauer to give a two-minute speech to the senate. The candidates, David Clegg, Jeff Floyd and Matt Ward, are all senators. Warshauer said it was "a little unorthodox, but since they are all senators presently and they do run this body, I think it is of special concern to us." The SG vice president is the president of the senate. Miller said the main problem with SG is not finding out what students want and this causes students to be apathetic and have a low opinion of the student senate. VOGEL SAID his main reason for running was to represent residents at Columbia Hall and elsewhere and to "give rights back to the residents." Vogel wants to change residency rules in the "Carolina Community" through student court and not through the ad ministration.
