From pi Being in Columbia without the pressure of friends from home and with the support of her family has helped her adjust to playing fiveman ball after an illustrous high school career playing in a six-man league. UiNTli.. THIS year, Tennessee women played under a six-man system in which three players from each team stayed on one end of the court, unable to cross the mid-court line. Three played defense and three played offense, while their teammates reversed roles on the opposite ends of the court. Playing defense only once in four years of high school, Parker was the offensive standout on her team, averaging 35 points a game. But Parker feels she's adjusted to the defensive aspect better than to her new role playing offense on the team. "I think I've adjusted to defense a whole lot easier than offense. I have a differnet role than I had in high school." She credits her older brother with helping her learn defense. "We went to the park every night and played against guys," she said. "It's a whole lot harder playing against guys than it is I girls." Mrs. Parker believes playing with her son helped Parker's defensive abilities also.
