McKii Roger* All-American running back George Rogers will be honored Thursday by the Columbia Touchdown Club as the South Carolina major college player of the year. Rogers, who led his team to an 83 record this season and a trip to the Hall of Fame Bowl in Birmingham, Ala., was previously honored by the state legislature. The awards banquet will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature former Clemson football coach Frank Howard as the keynote speaker. Other players being honored include Airport High School standout Ty Rietkovich. The 6-4 tight end has signed to play next season at USC and will be honored as the South Carolina high school lineman of the year. FORMER GAMECOCK player Marty Woolbright will also receive an award.
