He demanded that Iran permit doctors and neutral ovservers to check their conditions and make certain none of them has been killed or injured. "As far as we're aware, the hostages are well and as hannv as can be expected," said the spokesman for the Iran Working Group. He said he did not think the students holding the hostages would allow anyone within the embassy compound to check on the hostages' condition. The piece of land, which lies next to Booker T. Washington Gym, is part of a tract of land left in a will to the City of Columbia for park purposes, David Rinker, assistant vice president for facilities planning, said. When USC acquired Booker T. BECAUSE THE HEIRS to the property felt the land was not being used in accordance with the will, a court suit was brought against th^ university, and the property reverted to the heirs, according to Rinker. "During the past three months or so this part has been deeded back to the Rembert heirs, and it's a question as to whether or not we can continue using 11 ior panting without getting involved in very sizeable amounts of monthly rent," Rinker said. While the university could pay rent by using parking fees, it would be more beneficial in the long run to purchase the land, he added. PURCHASE OF the land would allow the university all rights to the extension of Bull Street, ac cording to Kinker. "With the city's approval, we would gain full title to the extension of Bull Street which we now must gain their (the Rembert heirs) approval for any sort of activity on the right-of-way through there. We'd be able to make better use of it," Rinker said. The committee also approved the proposed land acquisition of the Wedge Plantation and Laboratory near Georgetown.
