Dunleavy and Doyle both agreed e that the more experienced big men e inside would help the fast break o game. "The key to the fast break is i, rebounding because yuou can't run until you get the ball," Dunleavy a said. "We'll be pushing the ball i. down the floor and trying to get a 0 quick lay-up or jump shot." t The guards will also run the triple post offense, devised by ^ Coach Danny Monk. "Basically e we're going to try to get the ball r 1 inside as much as we can to our s pivot men because we have some e really good big men this year," Dunleavy said. ACCORDING TO Frederick, the I triple post gives the guards opportunity to score too. "The triple post offense is where the guards get a lot of iumo shots, but at the same time, the big men are always involved in the game." The two guard spots are usually filled by one man who controls the ball and one man best known for shooting. Doyle and Frederick arebetter known as shooters. While Dunleavy and Reynolds have handled playmaking responsibilities in the past. "Over the last three years, I've been mainly a scorer," Doyle said. "I just like to keep up my average i and trv to imnrnup nn mv I -- ^ ? r J defense." Frederick, however, feels he can fill both the ballhandling role. "I just like to play regardless of where it is on the floor. If Mike's in the game, I have to take over the ballhandling chores and try to set offense up the best I can," he said. "If I'm in the game with any of the other guards my role would be to score and create a lot of work inside for the big men."
