The administrative change, effective Oct. 1, was based on the iccuiiuiicuuttuuiis ui u siuuy earlier this year by an independent consulting firm. The plan to merge the two colleges was introduced by Borkowski and approved by the USC president and board of trustees. THE HEALTH EDUCATION program in the former College of Health and Physical Education became a unit within the newly formed College of Health, and the physical education program became a free-standing department within the college, according to Borkowski. Status of students and faculty will not be changed by the merger of the colleges. Students previously enrolled in the College of Health and Physical Education will be able to complete their degree (programs. The status of each faculty member in the combined colleges will not be affected by the changeover, Borkowski said. THE RESPONSE thus far from involved students and faculty members has been "very positive," he added. | "In my view, the merger will | enhance the university's commitment to health programs, reduce the duplication of some existing programs and effect some savings in administrative costs," Borkowski said. a 11 I] I 1 I II I 1 1 I I ! 1IMURS ....from a small, 20 bed, wooden ? regional critical care center.
