Soccer By Richard Mayers Qamccock Staff Writer USC's soccer team suffered its first loss of the young season Friday afternoon as the University of Connecticut buried the Gamecocks 5-0. The defeat, only the second home loss ever for Carolina, dropped their record to 11 on the year. "We did not play with the concentration and determination that we need to have to be successful," USC soccer coach Mark Berson said. "They are an excellent team, we like to think that we are on their level, but we oortainlv wf?re> not today. We don't feel this was a real good indication of our team's ability but I think Connecticut had a lot to do with that." THE HUSKIES COMPLETELY dominated the entire first half, applying constant pressure on the Gamecock's defense. Ranked fifth in the nation in the latest Intercollegiate Soccer Association poll, Connecticut recorded their first tally at the 32:52 mark of the first half when Graziano Cornolo sliced a shot past Gamecock goalie Paul Turin. Thirteen minutes later, Cornolo scored again, this time he was setup by a pass from teammate ^ -71 11 ,.x.#^1M That's my ball USC's Brlsn Wlnstoad tries - ~ ??-- *??*-*?' - i^arios manors, in* nvsKies aui & PERSONAL DEVEI Counseling and Humai S annoi y MEMORY AND CONCf HYPNOSIS y Learn to use hypnosis for v imp (f concentration. y Thursdays, Oct. 4-11. t0:30-l2:00 to PARENTING SKILLS ^ Leam constructive ways of relatl ?
