'Long Ride Rv David Rftlrar Q?m*cocfc FHm Crttle When The Long Riders is released next year, it will come as a welcome relief to the many fans of Keith Carradine. After all, three of the lanky actor's most recent films (The Duellists, An Almost Perfect Affair and Old Boyfriends) liave not been released in most areas of the country, South Carolina included. "They just didn't get sold," Carradine explained. "I expect they (the films' distributors) didn't think the business they did in the Interview big cities warranted them putting any kind of a push on the rest of the country." Naturally, Carradine is disappointed about the treatment the three films have received, but he still believes that, because of the annr>ooo Di/)lou C^ntf So UMWWO Ull W%V* AWMAVJ UVVVV IP having with Alien, The Duellists may yet receive the kind of release it deserves. "It's become sort of a cult film already. People know that it's a film worth seeing. People that are avid filmgoers are seeking it out,"he said. Carradine first decided he wanted to act while in high school. "I thought about it off and on since I was about six years old," he said, "but I really made the decision when I was 17." ft- ? ? Regarding the controversial Pretty Baby, Carradine admitted that it was a hard film to make. "It was a difficult subject and it took a lot of concentration," he said, noting that the film's director, Louis Malle, "was willing to take the time to do everything right." Acting in The Long Riders so far has been "a snap," Carradine said. Working with brothers David and Robert has made filmmaking much easier for him. "I know them and they know me. There's none of that getting-to-know-one-another process that you normally have to go through," he said. For Carradine, shooting is the most important aspect of filmmaking. "None of the rewards or benefits that one gleans after the film is finished matter as much as the actual process of making the movie," he said. "That's the time when you really learn things, when you really grow." i Presents An 1TION SALE I 'PRINTS i Front of B?ttt0 House University Union 1: iO Artists 28" Reproductions or Artists Eschar | Picasso Menst Wveth m Chagall >nt Prices * Carradine In The Long Riders, Carradine portrays outlaw Jim Younger.
