Qamscock Staff Writer The USC Student Employment Office, designed to help university I students find part-time, offcampus jobs, has found work for 4,266 students since it opened last October. The office attempts to locate jobs that will test a student's career uiicicaw, UMU {jiuviuc CApn leiite making their degrees more marketable once they are out of school, according to Maxine Sumpter, student employment office director. The office is set up to aid students who have failed to qualify for work study. The center is one of many similar organizations at schools nationwide, although only a few are found in the Southeast. As well as locating part-time jobs for students, the employment office coordinates and operates the Governor's Internship Program. It is open to juniors and seniors who desire work in a field related to their major. The internship offers a 16-hour-a-week job at a salary of 22.90an hour. If a student is interested in applying for part-time work, he may come by the Student Employment Office Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4:90 pm, and complete a registration card.
