Prince of the City is based on tact, and no names have been changed to protect the guilty. The princes no longer reign supreme or inviolate, thanks to the courage and conscience of detective Lcuci. Author Robert Daley has created an interesting work, both for lovers of criminal justice proceedings and for lovers of man's inner torments and struggles with selfrespectability. That police are human is of little doubt. What remains in question after reading thp hrvnlc ic* what ic 0 " "MV legal and illegal versus what is effective and ineffective. Even hardnosed prosecuting attorneys admitted that many of the wonderful accomplishments by the princes were possible only by violating or taking license with the law.
