The "One and Only," a film
directed by Carl Reiner, raises
the question, what price stardom?
The question is answered in
madcap comedy style with
Henry Winkler as Andy Schmidt,
an adorably obnoxious
acting student at an Ohio
college in the 1950's. While in
school Schmidt succeeds in
stealing the show at the college

His new found career adds a
new dimension to his social life,
and further corrodes his
relationship with his in-laws,
who already think he is a freak.
The humor in the film is a
mixture of zaniness and
vaudeville. The zany part is
Winkler's performance as the
star-struck Andy. The "Happy
Days" star handles the role
with a great deal of innocence
and sensitivity.
This makes for a humorous
effect considering some of
Andy's lines and actions, such
as yelling to Darby outside a

TIIE VAUDEVILLE is
supplied by the supporting cast,
in particular Gene Saks as the

The only faults in the "One

leading lady role. All Kim
Darby can do is smile and look

throughout the movie. The |
band theme song is fortunately
placed at the very end of the
movie. Otherwise 'The One and
