viewpoi Support mining issue To the Editor: The reserve mining issue has gone on long enough. Eight years of suffering, frustration, anxiety and uncertainty is more than enough for the people of Silver Bay, Minn, to have to endure. With a decision from the State Supreme court due soon, this issue will hopefully be resolved, one way or the other. We would know where we stand-with jobs or jobless. It would not be over though, if Rep. Munger's House Bill number 401 begins moving through the Minnesota legislature, it would block the use of Mile-Past-Seven (disposable land area). Perhaps it is time for our friends in other states, concerned about Lake Superior, to write Gov. Perpich and the Minnesota legislature and say "Enough is enough. Let's get this issue settled once and for all." It is my belief and hope that the peoples of all states should act according to the desires of the citizens and not according to the desires of the bureaucrats. The people of Silver Bay are not the fire-breathing monsters depicted. We are not bent on destroying all we touch. We are families?men wnmpn children. In the administrations of student government presidents Rita McKinney (1973-1974) and Steve Hill (1975-1976) reasons for impeachment ranged from proposing useless bills to the incompetency of cabinet members. However, all proposals remained just talk and were never officially presented. Robert Alexander, student services dean, said that no USC student government president has ever been impeached. The senate must now consider who is right or wrong concerning this issue. If Wilsford is wrong, he must accept the face that he did something wrong. If the senate handles the impeachment resolutioo in a haphazard fashion, it's already low credibility level will decrease even more in the eyes of the student body. With the wheels of possible impeachment already in motion student senators must now act like legislators, not pretend.
