The prices were incomplete due to the lack of strengths included with 80 per cent of the medications listed?Darvon Compound-65 and Empirin No. 3 have the strength as part of their trade name. The other medications come in various strengths such as: Valium comes in 3 strengths, Premarin in 4 strengths, Ampicillin in 2 strengths and is marketed by 40 different companies, Lasix in 2 strengths, Tetracycline in 3 strengths and is marketed by 61 different companies, Librium in 3 strengths, VCillin K in 3 strengths and Aldomet in 2 strengths. V-Cillin K and Tetracycline are antibiotics and are very rarely prescribed in the quantity of 100 dosage units. Lasix is a potent diuretic and the 100 tablets priced would be a 1.5-3 month supply of the medication. Aldomet can not be commented on as no quantity was given. The Darvon Compound-85 quantity is unrealistically high also. Valium, Librium, and Emoirin Compound No. 3. are under Federal Law as to the number that may be prescribed at any one time (Darvon Compound 65 will soon come under these same regulations). That leaves only 30 per cent of the medications listed in normally prescribed amounts?Premarin, Ampicillin, and Librium. Mr. Herchak's opinion on football is his and his alone?if he used club stationary to expound these views he was wrong and if he signed the letter noting our club he was even more incorrect. JOHN C. These services are offered by many of the independents, but to my knowledge none of the chains offer these services. This letter is not to discredit the professionalism of the chains because as the article stated, they do have a higher volume and handle many customers per day. I do object to the bias of the survey and article as I feel that it is up to uic IIIUIVIUUCU IU ciiuuac mo UWII pharmacy but hopefully the decision will not be based upon price alone. Some of the chains offer a more professional attitude than the independents which is the way pharmacy is to be practiced? as a profession and a service to the public.
