Ih By LINDA O'CONNOR B- 'y Gamecock Staff Writer If a student is denied admission to USC, it's usually because the admissions office has reason to believe he will not make it through the freshman year. i John Bolin of the admissions office said, "The SAT and high school rank are the best indicators |we have in predicting a student's (chances of surviving his first year here. One or the other alone might not be completely valid. The SAT test is the only one thing that is constant. It's a consistent test given nationally." I The maximum SAT score is 800 on each part, verbal and math. USC requires a score of 350 on each part. Bolin said a person with a verbal score less than 350 would I probably not pass the USC's English program. THE ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE sets the SAT requirements and admission policy and consists of ten faculty members, half appointed by the president's office and the rest by the faculty senate. The committee changes yearly. The committee looks at the previous year's standards and general requirements to decide whether changes in policy need to be made.
