"I FIND USC to be a dynamic
university?there is a genuine
feeling of warmth and a sensitivity
toward people."
Otts views his new job as
awesome and challenging work.
The new Russell House Addition is
a great step forward but will
require new innovations, requiring
more planning and evaluation.
Funds are a major problem. This
year's allocation for the Union is
$148,673 compared with last year's
$168,274 budget. All nine committees'
budgets have been cut
from the amount requested by
them. The organizations affected
the most are Cinematic Arts,
Contemporary Sounds and
Cultural Series.

becoming tighter and tighter. It
has been cut severely. For
example, last year our allocation
for necessities and supplies for the
Russell House was approximately
$4,000. "This year our building has
doubled in size but only about
$1,000 has been added to this
particular area. We must give
more serious thought twoard
monitoring our appropriations
because we don't have the surpluses,
which we had in the past."
Ott's primary concern is in
forming students of the union's
services and activities.
"We need to tell people about the
services offered at the Russell
House. I don't think students are
aware of all the services we have,

Improved communication is also
the answer to solving student
apathy, he said.

needs of the student, then he will

the union meets the students' needs
