Does the Math Department have

might have an athlete superstar, or
someone close to it, they will have
the chance to prove it by competing
in Bell Camp's Superstars,
which is being co-sponsored by Bell
Camp and Budweiser of Columbia.
Phil Lownes, Bell Camp
director, came up with the idea in

Superstars and Almost Anything
Goes, I thought that a similar
competition could be held here at
Bell Camp. But I was not sure how
to limit contestants. Since most
events on campus were centered
around the students, I thought that
having the Faculty and Staff

provide a nice change of pace.
"The competition is open to both
men and women of any department
on campus, but with the limitation
of only one contestant per
department.
The rules state each contestant
must choose seven of the eleven
events in the competition. With this
method a contestant need not
compete in an event in which he or
she might not be adept.
"We will have both water and
field events in our competition to
provide both a challenge and an
insight to our facilities here at Bell
Camp," Lownes said. The eleven
events that a contestant may
choose from are: canoe Slalom, 30

of the Superstars competition is
scheduled for June 26.
Lownes said the purpose of the
Superstars 41 is to give people a
chance to compete in a sports
event without being a super
athlete. Although the Superstars
will be competitive, it will also be
fun for all those who participate.
Budweiser of Columbia has
provided the trophies for the
winner and runner-ups of the
Superstars in addition to a special
trophy for the department that the
winner represents.
