Week-long slate of activities set for Homecoming By TRACY GOULDON Gamecock Staff Writer What do Jimmy Buffett, The Hues Corporation, the Pink Panther and Yogi Bear have in common? Well, to start with they are some of the major attractions at Homecoming '75-"Wonderful World of Carolina." The first of a series of week-long activities will begin with Spirits Night tonight. The local night spots around town will have special things going on and Homecoming's part in this will be that the Pink Panther, Yogi Bear and the cheerleaders will be making ap pearances at these night spots to help the already "spirited" get more spirit. The first of two elections for Homecoming Queen will be Tuesday, Oct. 7. Voting will take place from 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the Russell House, the Humanities Building and the General Studies canteen. Pictures of the nominees will be posted and final elections will be held on Thursday. Student's night, sponsored by the Downtown Business Association, will be held starting at 6:30 Tuesday night. There will be a barbeque on the 1ussell House patio starting at 5 p.m. Immediately ifter the barbeque, there will be a film festival entitled 'Kartoon Klassics." Many of your favorite cartoon :haracters will be appearing. All films will be shown all night so you won't have to ;vorry about missing the Kartoon Klassics while you :atch Arthur, Hurley and Gottlieb at 8:30 p.m. in the 3olden Spur. If you don't get to see them on Wednesday, they will also be appearing on Thursday night in the Spur. Tte highlight of Homecoming week is Cockfest, and this year Cockfest will be on Friday night, at Williams Brice Stadium. The final day of Homecoming begins at noon with the Homecoming Parade. The Parade will begin at Main and Richmond Streets, continue down Main Street and then on to Gervais. From Gervais Street the parade will turn on Sumter and continue down Sumter to the Wheat Street Intramural Field. Organized by APO fraternity, the parade will have two grand parade marshalls, 40 units and 15 floats. The USC Band will also be marching. At 1 p.m., Jimmy Buffet will give a free concert on the Intramural field. He will be there with his band, the Coral Reefers. Buffett's concert will be the last Homecoming event until the Virginia game Saturday night. The band will be doing a pre-game show and they will also do a show during halftime.
