IIU BY CHUCK CROMER AND TERRY DUGAS Of The Gamecock staff This will be the busiest week for entertainment so far this semester since as, is typical, everything will happen at once. On the musical side, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, "the greatest living exponents of black folk blues," will perform tonight in the Golden Spur at.8 p.m. On the dramatic side, "The Adding Machine," by Elmer Rice, opens tonight at Drayton Hall. The USC Department of Theatre and Speech production is the story of Mr. and Mrs. Zero, who live their lives in a world dominated by the adding machine. The curtain rises at 8:15 p.m. The play wil run through Saturday. Town Theatre is opening its production of "A Shot In The Dark" at 8:30 p.m. Friday. The play is a comedy about a murder, several lovers, with and without mistresses, a somewhat confused ins tor, and a French maid. The film version starr Peter Sellers and is a minor comedy classic. The play runs through Nov. 16. One of the major cultural events of the semester is The Royal Swedish Ballet's appearance in Columbia Saturday and Sunday. The company, making its American debut, will present two full programs of ballet spanning the classica and contemporary dance idioms. The Saturday night performance will include "Kon servatorit," "Embrace Tiger and Return To Moun tain," and scenes from "Romeo and Juliet"and "The Sleeping Beauty." The performance is at 8 p.m. in Township Auditorium. At 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Township Auditorium the Ballet will present the full length production of Tschaikovsky's "Swan Lake." The production is based on the Bolshoi Ballet version in which the lovers over come the evil magician for a happy ending. The Columbia Lyric. Theatre opens its season with a production of "The Marriage of Figaro," at 8 p.m. Nov. 13 and 15 at Dreher High School Auditorium. The per formance of Mozart's comic opera is the joint effort of the Columbia Lyric Theatre and the USC Department of Music. Richard Conant is in the title role. The Department of Theatre and Speech is sponsoring its second'British Union Debate at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 in Capstone Campus Room. The top Ic for the debate will be: Resolved that unconditional amnesty be granted Vietnam draft dodgers. The audience participates in British Union debates by asking questions and deciding the outcome. One of the most promising South Carolina artists, Jeanet Elizabeth- Dreskin, has an exhibit of prints and gr'aphics in the Rtussell House Art Gallery. The 22 year old Dreskin has received national expoure in exhibits and has studied at Cornell University and in Rome, Italy. The exhibit will be up through November. The-USC Classical Society and the Columbia Museum of Art will co-sponsor a lecture by Dr. David Thompson of the University of Georgia on "The Portrait Painters of Roman Egypt." The lecture is illustrated with slides and will be held at 8 p.m. tonight at the Columbia. Science Museum Auditorium. Finally, at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Russell House Room 323 Dr. George Brauer of the USC English Department will give a lecture and showing of "Ancient Coins." Brauer teaches a course in the History Department on ancient coinage and has a respected private collection. This lecture also is sponsored by the Classical Society. In concert this week are The (top) and Sonny Ter Free concerts I BY CHUCK CROMER Of The Gamecock staff Two major free concerts are on bill tonight and Friday night at USC. -Famed blues artists Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee will perform at 8 p.m. tonight in the Golden Spur, and will front for Larry Coryell with the Eleventh House at 8 p.m. Friday in the Coliseum. Sonny and Brownie have toured the United States, Canada, England, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. They also have appeared on "In Concert," "Midnight Special" and several other nationally broadcast television shows. Between the two of them, they have recorded over 70 albums, all popular catalogue items.
