To the football, basketball, baseball and trasck fan the name John Rosier means very little, but to the USC soccer fan that name looms big in the plans of this yeasr's team. Coach Yank Albers, a sophomore, has two seaso,s' left after this year and expectations are high that he will develop into one of the nation's premier players. As a freshman last year he led the team with 19 goals, a figure good enough to rank him 10 in the nation in that department. After the first scrimmage of the season against Erskine, Albers, quite pleased with Rosier's play, said, "He's good for at least one goal a game." This seems to be the understatment of the year. After one more se.rimmageand the season's opener., Rosier seems to. be capable of scoring more in the vicinity of three to four goals a game. In each contest thus far he has scored four goals, ac complishing this even after sitting out much of each game because of USC's one-sided victories. He went on to score two more goals in the final period to put the game out of reach. Erskine, sporting a very fine, soccer team, went down to a humiliating 9-4 defeat. The next game,on the road, was against- Francis-Marion in Florence. Rosier again scored four goals as Cariolina completely outclassed its opponent in every department, winning 11-1 Last Sunday, USC opened its regular season schedule against Wofford and it was not very long before fans were treated to the Grantz, Ba Unimpressi The four passes quarterbacks Jeff Grantz and Ron Bass had intercepted Saturday night against Duke reflect the type of season the two quarterbacks have had thus far statiscally. In two games, the two quar terbacks have accumulated just 335 yards of total offense, with Grantz, USC's All-America can .D AND -SENT SERVE YOU. Minutes later Rosier scored again to make it 2-0. As it turned out, that was enough, but USC went on to rip Wofford 10-1 with Rosier booting in four goals. To credit Rosier with so much is not taking anything away from the rest of the teram. Rosier will team with such fine players as Tim and Bob Hankinson, Pete and Bob Hwath and Ken McCord to produce what should be USC's best soccer squad ever. Without such a team, Rosier's talent could easily be wasted. ss produce .ve figures didate, accounting for 218 yards of that total. While Grantz has outgained Bass as far as net totals go, Bass has the more impressive statistics. Bass has hit three of his six pass at tempts for 34 yards, with on in terception. Grantz has completed just eight of 18 tries, throwing one touchdown against three pickoffs. UCE SAYS, U COME" $ 95 $ 95 19' 796-3382 RIVE-I N A
