The editorial cartoons on this page tell a story - the story of: "The American Dream : Gone Awry." Normally, editorials cover a specific subject and offer specific criticism. However, this editorial does not. It covers the "in definable something" which is bringing the draam and promise this country was founded on to the brink of destruction. Three pictures -- three com ments on the quality of life in America. Something has gone wrong with the dreams our forefathers founded this country on. Afamily eating dog food. If it doesn't, then perhaps you have become innocuous to human suffering by the steady stream of reactionary, over-capitalistic propaganda generated by the old "rags to riches" crowd. However, it doesn't work for everyone, and it doesn't negate or lessen the need for human com passion and generosity. Economic and social inequality in our country is pervasive, and growing more so every day. Seven grain dealers shared more than $14 million in profits from the sale of American wheat to Russia, and the price you pay for bread is expected to reach one dollar a loaf within the year. Corporate executives earn as much as $800 thousand dollars a year and minimum wage won't get l you $4 thousand.
