The Golden Spur Nite Club
opened its summer concert series
this past Thursday night in ex
cellent fashion when it premiered
the rock band "Roadapple" from
Atlanta.
"Roadapple" consists of five
members, with two playing
keyboards. This, in essence, is the I
backbone of the group. The two
keyboard men give the group a
distinctive sound that places them
above the heading of just another
average band.
The instrumentation of
"Roadapple" was superb. The
organist and the lead guitarist
made quite a team. However, one I
cannot overlook any member's
playing ability as all sounded well
together.
The use of mellotron, minimoog,
and electric piano enhanced their
sound tremendously. It more than
made up for their poor vocal. You
never cared if they sang as long as
they played like a tight band
should.
The stage set-up for the band
covered almost the entire dance I
floor of the Spur. It was very
impressive in appearance which
made one anxious to hear the
"Roadapple's" music.

ecause two of the musicians could

he audience did not seem
listurbed over it.
When "Roadapple" finally

airly well fille d up. They opened
with a Todd Rundgren song and

osition, the whole first set's music
;eemed to flow gracefully from one

The band played three sets that
night and ended the c6ncert at
11:30 p.m. "Roadapple" played
mostly other musicians' material.
'heir own material was not that
mpressive. Their rendition of
ongs by such artists as Cat

well done, however.
Without a doubt, the highlight of
he evening was "Roadapple's"

enjoyable listening experience
because of the groups excellent

It was a sucessful way to open
the Spur's summer series as the
music was good and not very loud.
The capacity crowd was receptive

the trend will continue.
