News Briefs Biologist Named The head of the University of South Carolina Department of Biology, Dr. John G. Scandalios, has been elected to the Council of the American Genetic Association, the oldest genetics society in the United States. Scandalios, a developmental biochemical geneticist, has been at USC since January 1973. He holds the Ph.D. degree from the University of Hawaii and formerly was with the Atomic Energy Commission Plant Research Laboratory at Michigan State University. BA.
