Captain Brain Winters, said tne
balance of this team has a lot to do
with it's success. "This team is
really balanced," he said. "If we
didn't have the balance that we do,
the opposition would be able to key
on just one player. As it is with our
balanced attack, if they try to key
on one man, then that leaves a
player free and we feed him. If
they double team me, that leaves
Mike free. If they overplay Mike
etin I or someone underneath is
open."
Winters feels this year's team is
better than last year's. "We are
playing together better because we
know each others' moves. We
know where each other is going to
be."
Intramural
Season Star
The intramural basketball
season tips off next week with ten
games scheduled to be played
Monday in the P.E. Center. In all,
57 teams will participate in the
intramural basketball program's
four divisions.
The fraternity and Gamecock
divisions have 17 teams each. The
Residence Hall division has 11
teams and there are 12 teams in the

Carolina's women's volleyball
team finished third in state
competition in a tournament held
in December and won by Winthrop.
Coach Violet Meade said that tne
eam's 9-6 record for the season
was very impressive, considering
he team's high quality com
)etition. Winthrop won the tour
iament.
Try-outs for next year's team
