Our Mail PO THE EDITOR: - I am writing is response to Ms. ielsky's letter of Nov. 12, 1973. I im very disappointed to learn that is. Betsy Watson, in her official ?anhellenic capacity, blatantly nisinformed two fall rushees. As 'resident of Panhellinic Council, 4s. Watson represents all of the ororities located on our campus. rherefore, her statement would ave implied that no USC chapter ould ethically initiate a Jewish |irl. However, this is not true. There s no incompatibility between the onvictions of Judaism and the >ath of, e.v., Kappa Kappa %amma. I ain aware that the rushees in uestion engaged in informal rush nd were subsequently pledged by 'i Beta Phi. Hats off to the Pi his--and all of the other sororities hat pledge women without em loying discriminatory technique. oherry Ackerman 'O THE EDITOR Tonight while dining in the legant cuisine of the Russell louse Cafeteria, I became auseous. Now to the stalwart atrons of this cafeteria, nausea is ot uncommon for it is often a esult of eating the food. (I venture ) say that the Russell House leads iany non-smokers to the haven of igarettes in order to drown out the ftertaste and sickness created by ie food.) But I was dealt an un ommon blow. After the tedious ordeal of electing my meal from an un intalizing array of entres and egatables, I regretfully paid $1.75 nd sat down to tolerate another meal". I preceded to down the tuff and by the will of providence efrained from eating my salad, aving 'it for last. After finishing my entre and ssorted* vegatables, I dove into iy salad with common relish for, s always, I was still hungry. With y fourth fork-full of salad I bit lto a foreign morsel. What could be? I chewed and.. .chewed. In isgust, I plucked from my mouth wad of gum which, judging from e taste, was discarded Dentine. leedless to say, I was overcome by wave of nausea that even a igarette couldn't cure. Now, I'm used to finding hair rom long blond to black kink hroughout my Russell House food, ut gum? That's more than even I an tolerate. I don't know the purpose for the um-in-the-salad trick. Whether it ras a joke among the salad dishers r just an accidental missile iunched by a strategic cough, it issed me off. Now, to me, its a earty joke, a part of college life. [owever, I can say that the Jniversity Dining Service has lost nother customer, but, alas, there /ill always be. eager freshmen to ake my place. I offer one final warning to those tudents with full meal ticket ooks. Beware of stray pubic airs. i)avid Peace [) THEl EDITORl Idiocy indeed! More bicycles 'ill now be stolen or rust simply ecause the student body president alt in this instance that she had to ave things her way or not at all. Short of a total revolution, no tudent government anywhere will et its own way without making m oncessions or compromises i legislation to the administration, point someone should tell our icey leader. Meanwhile, Joe Rust ontinues to gnaw away at our cycle fenders. Robert V. Ruit,
