Warren To. Receive USC- Award Pulitzer Prize winning poet and novelist Robert Penn Warren will be at-USC, Nov. 5 to give a reading from his works and to receive the USC Award for 'Distinction in Literature. Open to the public, Warten's reading will be held in the USC Law Center Auditorium on the corder of Main and Devine Streets at 8:30 p.m. The award is presented by the University student body in recognition of the author's highly esteemed con tribution to American letters. A native of Limerick, Ireland, Harris' many-faceted talents were shaped and polished on the London Stage. His wide-range of. film roles includes the captain of a whaling ship in "'Hawaii," Cain in "The Bible" and King Arthur in the musical "Camelot." In 1965 Harris received an Academy Award nomination and won the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival for his role in " This Sporting Life." In addition the actor has earned an Emmy nomination for his television performance in "The Snow Goose" and also won a Gold Record for his rendition of "MacArthur Park." Harris'- recent movies include "Cromwell," "A Man Called Horse" and "Man in ,the Wilder ness' and he is currently recording an LP from the best' seller "Jonathan Livingston Seagull." Gem Course Set USC's Division of Educational Services will sponsor a short course in "Gemology" on Monday evenings Nov. 12 through Dec. 3. The short course, taught by Russell Lipscomb, will be held in the Carolina Coliseum from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Classes will cover the fundamentals of gemology with emphasis on determining the price and quality of diamonds and precious colored sioaes. Tuition for the "Gemology" course is $10 per person or $17 per married couple.
