Reaction to accusations made by Robert Clarkson concerning. misuse and malappropriation of student fees has been limited. Mike Grier, university om budsman, said at present, Clarkson is presenting more of an opinion than an argument. He also said a lot depends upon Clarkson: whether he tries to work out his complaints within the University structure or decides to go to court. A member of the USC Board of Trustees. Michael J. Mungo, said, "If there is something specifically Wrong, it ought to be corrected. If any money is being used in an improper manner, or an unfair manner, then it should be stopped. It is very normal for these things (probing into use of student fees) to occur and I think it is healthy for them to occur." Rita McKinney , SGA president, said Clarkson.had a lot of good points. In con junction with this, She mentioned that the Student Allocations Commission should have its guidelines out by next week. In a Columbia Record article, President Jones said "he would be glad to meet with Clarkson." After reading this, Clarkson called Jones' office for an appointment, but said he was told by Jones to "have your (Clarkson's) lawyer talk to my lawyer." Clarkson said his request to see the Board of Trustees has been denied. Clarkson now is attempting to get the facts and figures con cerning student fees. He said that if he gets help from the University, he will not sue. However he is continuing with his preparations for court. "I'd hate to give you a date for he delivery because I just don't ,now," said Richard E. Eisenman, mniversity direttor of com nunications. Eisenman said he expects the irectories to arrive by the week's nd but if they don't, he isn't sure vhen they'll be here. Students failing to fill out registration materials properly at the beginning of the semester virtually insures some information will be missing from their direc tory listing, he said. Eisenman said checking building bnd room locations of returning students is difficult. He added that some students 'move after the cutoff date for directory in Sformation, so some of the phone Snumbers listed are incorrect. The directories cost the Suniversity nothing, he said, because advertisers pay the Sprinting fee. When the directories arrive, they'll be delivered to the dorms Dfor distribution to students who have phones, Eisenman said. gOff-campus students may pick up directories at the Russell House Sinformation desk. "I hope after this year that we get the directories out sooner," said Eisenman. "The date depends on several factors. If we . can get computer services to .compile the information sooner I f think mid-October would be pretty reasonable considering everything .o involved."
