Surely you cannot beleive It American system is "embarrassing." Tommy R. Elfalod Sexist Pigs To the Editor: In reading the Gamecock this semester, have noticed that you often run help-wante ads which specify sex. This is illegal: Titl Vil of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibil discrimination on the basis of race, cree( color, national origin and sex. Advertising i sex-segregated columns or specifying one se has been interpreted as a violation of this law You wouldn't run an ad which specific "white". You shouldn't be running ads whic specify "men" or "women" either. I believe you would be doing your ai vertisers a favor if you inform them of this Ac I am sure that they do not want to break an -laws. NOW definitely does not want to have I file charges against them with the Equi Employment Opportunity Commission. I am looking forward to reading non-sexi, ads in the future Marie M. Whether you know it or not, there is university provision which entitles you to pi resident fees. Unfortunately, it seems th, many' staff people at the university .- evi those who deal most with students ar university . employes -- know nothing about i I can think of no reason why the universi keeps non-resident students uninformed abo a provision that would save the students S7 per year. I don't think the University would 1 bankrupt if a few more lines were added to ti "Fees and Expenses" section of TH BULLETIN to make the provision known. this cannot be done immediately, what abo periodic ads in the "Gamecock" or even han written posters on key bulletin boards arour campus? I can guarantee that non-reside students will not care how this information gotten to them. After all, S710 is not gamecoi feed. First, reference was made to charges Senator Clarkson that student funds have be improperly used. The SAC has control ov only a portion of these funds. StudE Government, by Senate Statue, receives 11 ner ent of the Student Activities Fee. The be bust and Carolina Cares are among SG/ programs. The Student Bar Associati generates or receives in grants over $5,000 I its own programs. In order to prevent improper use of funds the commission de allocate, it is presently compiling and panding the guidlines formed last spring. I have never failed to receive any requested assistance or information from either Dean Alexander or his administrative assistant Nicki Cantrell. re Third, the lack of a computerized accounting n- system was critized.
