Recently, at halftime of the pro football exhibition game between Minnesota and Kansas City, rugby received national coverage when two American rugby teams competed during the break. The announcers showed possibly the most excitement of the night as they described the action. Five times during the ten minutes of action the football fans went to their feet to cheer great rugby plays. Rugby in Carolina by no means takes a second fiddle to the style of rugby that was shown on national television. Under the direction of Dr. James Wynn, rugby started moving into prominence at Carolina four years ago. Wynn can claim to his credit trips to the National Collegiate Rugby Tournament in the past two years and exceellent rankings in this part of the coutry and the nation.
