Co el BY MARSHALL SWANSON Gamecock Staff Writer The USC Alumni Association and the Division of Educational Services has established a series. of 11 free cocktail party - seminars to acquaint graduating seniors with some of the problems they may encounter after leaving school. The programs will start at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16, in University House across from Capstone. A wine and cheese reception will precede each seminar. The seminars will be held throughout the fall and spring semesters, and cover such topics as whether one should attend graduate school, how to deal with taxes, finances, insurance, buying a new car, and special op portunities for Blacks. According to Ed Craig, associate director for alumni affairs, each seminar will feature an expert to talk on the scheduled subject. He holds a B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Kent State University and received his doctorate from Pennsylvania State University in 1968. A native of Pittsburgh, he has taught marketing at Penn State and has lectured at the tai1s 0 alumni and have agreed to speak at the seminars free of charge, Craig added. Craig said the res ponse from students to the seminars has been "tremendous", adding that more than 100 persons signed up for the meetings during a two-day period following announcement of the series. Seminars concerning job interviews and graduate school are the most popular, Craig said. Underclassmen may partidipate in the seminars by making reservations at the Alumni Association Office for the par ticular meeting they would like to attend, Craig said. Students are permitted to enroll for three seminars until they begin to reach capacity enrollment. After that, students will be limited to one seminar a piece, he said. Craig said incentive for the series developed when alumni University of Virginia, George Washington University and American University before coming to USC.
