Gonzales, founders of the State,South Carolina's largest newspaper. Carolina Sets Heart Disease Symposiums - A cardiovascular disease symposium designed primarily for physicians, nurses, and educators but open to the public will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at the University of South Carolina. The symposium which will ineiude group exercise, two lectures and three workshops will be held in the USC's Physical Education Center on Wheat Street. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. Visiting lecturer, Dr. Samuel M. Fox, III, professor of medicine at George Washington University, will open the sym posium program speaking on "Exercise and Stress Testing in the Prevention, Diagnosis, Treatment and Rehabilitation of Coronary Heart Disease." Group exercise led by Dr. Warren Giese, dean of USC's School of Health and Physical Education, will follow a second morning discussion on car diovascular disease planning for Columbia and the midlands area. Three afternoon workshops will be corncerned with the multidisciplinary approach to cardiovaslar problems. The symposium is co sponsored by USC's Division of Health Sciences, Providence Hospital's Division of Car diovascular Services, Richland County Heart Unit and the South Carolina Heart Association. Registration fee is $25 for physicians and $10 for nurses, educators and others interested. Further information is available from the.
